  We opened an account there, and our initial rep was so very nice. Then we left, and after a few months, the money on it ran out and they just CLOSED the account without any warning whatsoever. They're supposed to call, email or send a letter when a situation like that occurs, they did nothing but closing it. Until I realized when I needed the account for possibly placing an offer on a house and found myself in trouble!

  Upon my complaint, they "exceptionally" reopened an account (I was back in my country and couldn't fix it there myself) with different conditions than the one I had. Hence, they asked me to send money on it. I sent money to cover maintenance fees, but later they wanted a minimum of 500 euros - which is normally fine, but bear in mind, I couldn't have a card or internet banking with this "temporary account" they fixed for me, so wouldn't want to risk loosing the balance.

  I declined, asked to be refunded of the money I had just sent for maintenance fees and close this temp account. Well, they never answered any of my emails nor refunded the money.

  As a general advice, stay away from this Bancamarch, they are there to leech on foreigners in Callao Salvaje.

  Stay away from this bank whose goal is to feed on foreigners in the area! Very unprofessional management, they won't reply to questions. They don't seem to be transparent about wire fees because they never answered my questions about those. Red flag.

  If you're an expat in Tenerife you want to have a trustworthy bank, so beware. It's your money. There are options on the island, even though they might not be close to your village. If you're planning to buy property and use this bank, make sure that they explain to you in a written form the fees linked to international wires, and any wire above a certain amount. You could end up loosing a LOT of money!

  I feel sorry for the first rep, whom doesn't deserve to be part of a bad review as she was kind and helpful, but she was moved somewhere else anyway before my account started having the above issues.
